Steve "Mongo" McMichael was drafted out of Texas in 1980 by the New England Patriots and was
acquired by the Chicago Bears as a free agent in 1981. He became one of the Bears’ starting
defensive tackles and helped lead them to a Super Bowl win in 1985. Steve led the Bears with 11
1/2 sacks in 1988. McMichael was named to the NFC's Pro Bowl teams for the 1986 and 1987
seasons. He played with the Green Bay Packers in 1994 before retiring. After retiring from football,
Steve spent the next four years (1995-1999) as a professional wrestler with the WCW (World
Championship Wrestling), where he wowed the crowds with his signature moves, including the
Mongo Spike. After wrestling, McMichael became a staple in Chicago sports-radio. In 2006,
Steve signed on to be the head coach of the Chicago Slaughter Professional Indoor Football
Team, and has led the team to the playoffs every season. Steve resides in Chicago and Texas
